Archive: Great Mississippi River Flood of 1993.

Was this flood a one-off event, a thousand-year flood or signal for significant climate change?

I spent three weeks in July of 1993 shooting the flood from the air. Seventy-two hours in helicopters shooting from Des Moines, Iowa to the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers for NatGeo magazine. John Echave was my photo editor, Tom Kennedy was the Director of Photography, @kkobersteen was the assistant director and Susan Smith (R.I.P.) was the associate director of photography.
